How did I get infected with?

The DreamCompress adware is not an ingenious virus. It cannot install itself. Neither can it hack your machine. To enter your device, it needs your permission. At some point, you’ve allowed this parasite on board. Confused? Let’s explain. The adware uses software bundles. Software developers attach it as an extra to the payload files of many third-party apps. When you start the installation process of these bundles, you will be urged to select the Standard/Fast setup option. This process is not recommended. It is completely automatic. Once started, you lose control over it. The setup wizard installs the attached programs alongside the app you’ve downloaded. To prevent this, select the Advanced/Custom installation. Under it, you will be presented with a list of all extras. Deselect all unwanted programs. You can deselect all of them and still install the app you originally planned to set up. Also, read the Terms and Conditions/End User License Agreement (EULA). If you spot anything out of the ordinary, abort the installation immediately. It is up to you to keep your device virus-free. Do not be lazy, always do your due diligence!

Why is this dangerous?

The DreamCompress adware is like a pain in the neck. The more you tolerate it, the worse it becomes. As time passes, the nasty adware gets more and more aggressive. It will drown in you in a sea of advertisements. Every web page you load, every link you follow, every video you watch, every search inquiry you make, there will be ads everywhere. You will hate the experience. Unfortunately, this aggressive behavior takes a toll on your browser. Your poor browser will start to freeze and crash frequently. Your Internet connection would also seem slower than usual. Can you imagine getting any work done in such conditions? You won’t be able to finish a simple task without being interrupted. Unfortunately, your comfort is not the biggest problem here. Every advert provided by the adware is a potential threat. As we already explained, the DreamCompress adware has no verifying mechanism. The crooks take advantage of the parasite. They use it to redirect web traffic to infected and scam websites. One click on the wrong advert is all it takes for a virus to be downloaded. Do not put up with this situation. Do not risk your cybersecurity. Remove the adware now! The sooner it is gone, the better!
