How did I get infected with?

The GetEasyArcade adware did not appear by itself. This parasite is a simple computer application. As any other app, it needs your approval to be installed. Yet, it doesn’t need to ask openly. This furtive utility uses trickery to lure you into installing it unintentionally. Torrents, spam emails, and software bundles are the most commonly used adware distribution methods. A little extra caution, however, can prevent these techniques from succeeding. Whenever you are installing a program, opt for the Advanced option in the Setup Wizard. It can be a button or a tab. Use it. Only under the Advanced installation will you be able to see all additional programs that are about to be installed. These extras, more often than not, are malicious. Take your time to read the Terms and Conditions/EULA. You can also research the extras online. Be careful. You can never know what kind of infection may have arrived unnoticed. Install only the programs you trust. If you have the slightest suspicion that something is wrong, there probably is a good reason for that. Abort the installation immediately. You should also bear in mind that you can deselect all extras and still install the program you originally planned to set up. The Internet is bursting with parasites. Only your caution can keep your PC clean. Having a powerful anti-virus app on board is also a good idea.

Why is this dangerous?

The GetEasyArcade adware is not only extremely annoying, it is also quite hazardous. The furtive app exposes its victims to numerous commercials. Yet, it doesn’t display random adverts. No, it targets the ads. How? Easy enough! The adware collects data about you and your online habits. It knows which websites you visit, what search inquiries you make, what kinds of links you click on. Everything that you do online is recorded, analyzed and used against you. Thus, if you enter “sneakers” into some search engine, the adware will start to display discounts and great offers for sports shoes. Do not trust these advertisements. The GetEasyArcade adware has no checking mechanism. Anyone willing to spend some money can use it to promote. All sorts of crooks take advantage of the situation. The adware may redirect you to fake web stores or other web scams. Question everything! Avoid online purchases while this adware remains active. It is quite a rare occurrence, but it is possible for the adware to record paying information, such as your credit card details, billing and email address, etc. Your best course of action is the immediate removal of the GetEasyArcade adware. You will be much better without it!
