Instead, it did it in the sneakiest way possible. The Yahoo! Powered tool turned to all the known tricks in the book. Like, spam email attachments, freeware, corrupted sites, fake updates, and so on. Sometimes even a little extra attention can save yo a ton of troubles.

Why are these ads dangerous?

After the PUP slithers in undetected, it doesn’t take long before you learn of its presence. It clues you into its existence when it begins the bombardment. Every time you browse the web or open a new tab, you’ll see pop-up ads. Advertisements “Brought to you by Yahoo! Powered” coming at you all the time. Pop-ups taking over your screen and disrupting your online activities. And, don’t think that continuous interruption goes unnoticed for long. It doesn’t take long before the repercussions kick in. Your computer’s performance slows down to a crawl. Your system starts to suffer from frequent crashes. Not to mention, the malware threat these pop-ups place on you. They present a risk of you unwillingly agreeing to install even more unwanted tools. That’s because each ad you see is unreliable. It conceals infections. And, each time you press an ad, you consent to the installment of said infection. So, unless you wish to flood your PC with cyber threat, don’t click anything the adware displays. But all that pales in comparison. No matter the frustration and annoyance, nothing compares to the security risk. Yahoo! Powered spies on you. It keeps track of every move you make online. And, not just that. It keeps a thorough record of your activities. After it deems it has enough data, it sends it to unknown individuals. The third parties that published it, to be exact.
