How did I get infected with?

The Gvt1.com website pops up by courtesy of adware. As for the parasite, it sneaks into your computer through trickery. Don’t imagine ingenious cyber attacks, though. The adware has other plans. It sneaks into your PC when you let your guard down. The thing about adware is that these parasites need you, the user, to approve their installation. That’s the case with the menace behind the Gvt1.com ads. This parasite is bound to seek your consent. And it does! It always asks. But it does so in the sneakiest way possible. The adware preys on your naivety. It hides in the fine print and steals your approval. Don’t make its job easier. Choose caution over carelessness. Even a little extra attention can spare you an avalanche of problems. Download software and updates from reliable (preferably official) sources only. And forget about the “Next-Next-Finish” setup strategy. More often than not, the apps we download off the Web come bundled with bonus software. If you rush, if you don’t pay attention to the red flags, you are likely to install parasites. Don’t rely on luck! When available, use the advanced/custom setup option. Deselect all unwanted bonuses. And before you hit that “Accept” button, go through the terms and condition. If you can’t read the whole document, scan it with an online EULA analyzer. Don’t hesitate to opt out of the installation if you notice anything suspicious!

Why is this dangerous?

There is no such thing as safe adware. These parasites have no filters nor security mechanisms. They are published to generate revenue for their unethical owners. That’s the case with the parasite behind the Gvt1.com ads. This menace sneaks into your computer and floods you with countless unreliable ads. Click nothing! These “great deals” arise unwarranted expectations at best. At worst, they redirect traffic to scam and malicious websites. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! You can notice the full extent of the corruption only when you examine the ads closely. Everything “Powered by Gvt1.com” is related to your recent online activities, isn’t it? That’s because you are under surveillance. The adware studies your habits and uses the collected information to turn you into an easy target. Do you think that ends well? This parasite spies on you from day one. It knows which websites you visit, which links you follow, which videos you watch. The Incognito mode of your browser can’t hide you! The adware knows your every online step. And if you are out of luck, some pieces of data, your search queries, for example, may leak confidential details. Don’t risk it! Removal of the adware. Find where the intruder hides and delete it upon detection!
