JS/Fakepack is a nasty Trojan Horse. This parasite uses trickery to slither into your system and to wreck it. It is what users fear the most: a virus that downloads other viruses. JS/Fakepack is a Trojan dropper. It opens your OS to numerous threats. Do not waste time in debates. The more time this menace spends on your system, the worse your predicament gets. Corruption follows this invader. As soon as it enters your OS, problems ensue. You would notice various issues which vary from online interference to program failures. Your browser gets flooded with ads. Pop-ups appear out of the blue. Your apps take forever to load (if they load at all). Errors and warning pop up with no apparent reason. That’s the nature of the Trojan. It affects every component of your system. The annoying issues, however, are not caused by the virus. They are triggered by the parasites this Trojan installs. JS/Fakepack is a backdoor to your system. Anything from annoying adware to destructive ransomware can use it to sneak into your OS. Do not test your luck. Close that door. Find where the Trojan lurks and delete it upon detection! Clean your system ASAP!

How did I get infected with?

Fake updates, corrupted links, malicious software bundles. There are myriads of Trojan distribution strategies. And JS/Fakepack takes advantage of all known methods. More often than not, though, this parasite poses as an essential update (usually for JavaScript or Adobe Reader). That’s just camouflage, though. You are not downloading a genuine program. You are installing a fake pretender. Do not fall for its tricks. Your caution can prevent its schemes. Download software and updates from their official websites. Make sure you know what you install. When available, use the advanced setup option. Under it, you would be able to control what’s being modified on your OS. Bear in mind that the free programs we download off the Web often come bundled with bonus software. The extras, unfortunately, are often parasites. Deselect all suspicious apps. Do not let your guard down. No anti-virus app can protect you if you toss caution to the wind. Read the terms and conditions before you agree to them. If you cannot spare enough time to go through the whole document, scan it with an online EULA analyzer. Opt out of the installation if you notice anything suspicious. Even a little extra caution can spare you an avalanche of problems. Always take the time to do your due diligence!
