How did I get infected with?

Rietspoof uses instant messages to reach your system. It employs hacked social media accounts and various tricks to slither into your system. Its distribution strategies are very effective. They, however, are not flawless. The malware relies on your cooperation. It needs you (the user) to interact with the corrupted messages. Your caution can prevent this. Treat all unexpected messages as potential threats. Do not follow links. Make sure you know what to expect. If a friend sends you a link out of the blue, ask them where the links lead to. Don’t accept files from strangers. And, of course, be careful with the group chats. Many criminals post malicious content in group chats and forums. Trust your instincts. If you feel that something looks suspicious, there’s probably a good reason for that. Bear in mind that no anti-virus app can protect you if you act recklessly. Don’t throw caution to the wind. Always take the time to do your due diligence!
